The Jersey State Senate passed th bill in committee, with Chairman Sarlo abstaining and not one person voting “no.”
A full Senate and Assembly vote whenever the state budget issues starts to settle but that won’t be until early April, mid-May at the latest sometime in June.
Online poker fans and the rest of us gamblers must wait and see how the battle goes between Republican Governor Christie and the Democratically controlled Legislature in Trenton.

The bill also suggest the possibility of allowing New Jersey to accept bets from places outside of New Jersey if it is legal to do so!

An Assembly committee last month heard testimony from a Seton Hall Law School expert on the state Constitution that such a bill would pass muster because the gaming servers that completed online bets around the state for table game play would all be based in Atlantic City. That would preserve that city’s mandated monopoly as the source of all state gaming, the expert said. But the committee elected not to vote on the measure just yet.
