Thank you Jackpot Capital and Streak for the opportunity to relive wonderful New Years Memories!

My most poignant memory of New Years was the year I turned 17. Our dad had died the week before Thanksgiving, and my Mom got ill and was hospitalized on the 26th of December. Beaches came home and stayed with me to hold down the fort until Mom was better. We stayed home on New Years, made Totino's party pizzas and although I wanted to go out with friends, we stayed home together. At about 5 till midnight some of my friends showed up at the front door! With sparklers we ran through the neighborhood shouting Happy New Year!!

Our family has always been a great source of strength for us. Thank heavens I have a true sister like Beaches, and a wonderful second family here at the Streak.

    Happy New Year everyone!

My most memorable New Year's Eve was when my son was born. I spent that new year's eve in the hospital. It was great fun!!! There was a party atmosphere in the place, all the nurses and doctors were in great form, and it was a great place to be on that particular night, believe it or not. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Just now, wishing Sorcer3ss a Happy New Year hours before it becomes 2010 here reminded me of New Years y2k.... I had bought into some of the worries over turning the computers to the year 00. So we were very prepared, but kind of scared and anxious. I remember spending a quiet evening with my 3 year old and my 85 year old mother at KMart lol... buying last minute goodies.... then watching on television as country after country, starting with Australia, turned 2000 with no hitches! What a relief that was! It never hurts to be prepared though, so I don't regret those preparations. But I'm very very happy to live in this age with all our modern conveniences.

    Happy New Year everyone!

When I was younger we used to beat pots and pans at midnight. Well when I was about 12 my parents let my friend Amy spend the night, and at midnight we went running down the street banging on pots and pans with wooden spoons. It was so loud!!! Then my Dads out in the front yard yelling at us cause we werent supposed to leave the yard. Well we didnt hear him until my spoon broke. They never let Amy spend the night again on new years eve as my punishment I guess. LOL Theres no doubt in my mind that everyone on the block heard all the banging and yelling. Still makes me laugh. LOL

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE TO ALL!

cresentcookie, thanks for the memory. I'd forgotten till I read yours that my best friend in grade school would do the same thing with her family on New Years... but with cow bells too! I haven't thought of her in years - thanks for the memories.

I CELEBRATED THE MILLINIUM ON OAHU HAWAII AND LET ME TELL YOU THE FIREWORKS THAT WERE BROUGHT IN WAS UNBELIEVABLE 7 DAYS AND NIGHTS OF NOTHING BUT NOISE AND SMOKE SO THICK YOU COULDNT BREATH. IT WAS A GREAT SHOW BUT ONCE IS ENOUGH IF I NEVER SEE ANOTHER FIRECRAKER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE I WILL BE CONTENT. HAPPY 2010 TO THE WHOLE WORLD AND PRAYERS FOR PEACE WORLDWIDE. GOD BLESSS AND BE SAFE

re: New Years Memories with Jackpot Capital (CLOSED)

Well, i am not sure if this is my worst or best lol

I'm not sure what year it was but it was many many MANY moons ago in a land far far away..............Alaska....

We had a big party out at Blind Slough (i think that was my nickname ever after). We had the ever famous Tequila and the not so famous Everclear.

Most i remember is getting ready and driving out the road to the slough. We of course had a couple shots of everclear for the road and well 2 shots of everclear is about enuff for the entire nite.

I heard later i skinny dipped off the bridge into the slough and stayed out in the water doing gawd knows what til somebody came and dragged me out before i drowned.

I roasted hotdogs. I threw a pack of unopened dogs on the grill and said lemme know when they are done. So im told. I dont believe a word of it.

There were some unmentionables that i wont mention lol Something to do with a lumberjack, something to smoke and a motor home............

They are not quite sure what happened to me after that as i seem to have disappeared into the woods to find a bathroom lol

Apparently i returned at some point!

Then i was dumped back in the car (not driving this time) and, once again, so im told, i threw up out the window all the way to where we staying with friend and her parents. Staggered in the door and threw up all over the entry way where u take your shoes off. APPARENTLY the entire family was home because there were a frikking lot of shoes to hit!

    SO IM TOLD.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Can ya believe its 2010???

My best new year's eve memory is when my family get together and enjoy all the things were doing, like playing cards n games and when midnight comes @12 we all look out the window n wait for the fire works...the only bad thing is my 4 yr old cries hearing them, she covers her ears cause we live close by when the fire works start....but she still loves the look of them fireworks but not the sound....

Okay, another new year's eve my husband and I, three other couples, booked a dinner/show at a hotel. Every single couple had a huge argument that night, one couple split up for good, and the bloody hotel burnt to the ground the next day. There was something definitely in the air that night! I think that was the worst new year's eve I've ever had.

I have a sweet New Years Memory that just happened, but we'll enjoy a chuckle over it in years to come... watching Fox and Friends this morning talking about resolutions, my young daughter said - drink more water - I did that already this morning, check that one off the list!

Then dad had to be a wet blanket by reminding her that resolutions are ongoing and not just single events lol.... lol one more memory
