Between 1 and 9 October, we’re off to Munich for a beer or five!
The Oktoberfest needs little or no introduction to those in the ‘Beer community’. On the third Saturday of September the whole of Munich, plus thousands of other Germans and tourists, get stuck into millions of litres of top German beer for the next three weeks until they cannot drink anymore!
During this time, Munich is home to 14 enormous tents where visitors sit elbow-to-elbow drinking huge steins of frothy beer, singing and shouting merrily to each other! All day. Every day!
The Entertainment comes in classic German style as well. Accordion playing, lederhosen wearing, moustachioed manner compete for attention with the delightful beer maidens skilfully carrying arm-building amounts of steins to tables heaving with merry drunks. Food comes in the shape of terrific pork treats – huge sausages, schnitzel and the glorious knuckle of pork. A true feast all-round so look out for the Oktoberfest games and celebrate in style!
