While playing a typically friendly, early morning poker game in a home garage, 18 players were taken by surprise when a violent robbery took place Monday in Portland, Oregon. Each player was robbed of all their valuables and left bruised pepper sprayed and confused.

The robbery happened at approximately 3:45am when three men carrying guns barged into the garage where the 18 players were enjoying their game. The men, who were wearing black outfits and masks, ordered the players to hand over their money.

The poker players first thought that the whole ordeal was just a prank being pulled on them by other players, so they all broke out laughing. But the room took on a serious tone pretty quickly when one man was hit and everyone was ordered to get down on the floor. That’s when everyone knew they meant business and this was no practical joke.

One of the poker players described the frightening incident:

“They were all wearing black masks covering their faces. One of them hit me in the back with a shotgun until I was flat on the floor..The men roughed some of us up and then patted everyone down stealing money, credit cards, jewelry, even cell phones and car keys.”

As if being beaten to the ground wasn’t bad enough, another of the victims had a gun held to his head throughout the ordeal, and once the robbers were finished looting the victims, they were sprayed with pepper spray where they laid on the floor before the robbers took off. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but two men were treated for minor injuries by paramedics arriving to the crime scene.

Police are still looking for leads having to do with this particular robbery and anyone with information regarding the ordeal is urged to call the police at (503) 823 3333.

The scary experience these players have endured has left them feeling cautious of where they will be playing poker from now on. One victim said, “I’m going to stick to the safety of brick and mortar casinos when I play cards from now on.”

Another wonderful alternative is to simply play poker online, where players can use safe deposit methods to play with others from all over the world or even join a table with their friends. That way, there is never a chance of anyone stealing cash since your money stays secure in a real money account.

The game info, time, had to know where and other details. Sounds to me like a total 'insider' or a pissed off player who lost and at least help set um up.

And 18 people playing :laugh they would have had at the least 2 tables, or 3!

I've thrown a few poker parties in the past, low stake and friends hanging out.

Those were friendly!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think this was for any coin action though!
