I just had to share this hilarious experience with all my friends at the streak.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

It’s been a very ruff couple of years for me; in fact I was not sure I could handle another bump in the road. Well it goes to show that even in the darkest times something can happen to change your outlook on life.<o></o>
In the last couple of years I lost the love of my life, my husband. He was only 40 years old. I have been struggling every day to keep my home, everything we worked so hard to acquire. I had to make some tuff choices. I managed to continue my daughter’s education at a private state university. She graduated with her B.A. Proud Mama here!<o></o>
I knew I was in trouble and I needed to better my chances of making it alone, so I went back to school. I passed my entrance exams to law school and was taking it day to day.<o></o>
Woke up one morning with pain in my back and neck like I never knew could be possible. I have no health insurance but I knew something was seriously wrong. So with the little money I had I went to the Dr’s to find out that I have a birth defect in my spine. My spin is completely reversed in my neck causing all my disks to be degenerating and crushing one another.<o></o>
I was told if I did not get treatment now, I would not walk in a year. I was a star athlete all through high school and college. I even made it to state finals in track and field. Never even had a clue of this mess going on in my spine.<o></o>
Now if this is not enough to break even the strongest of humans. I had a house fire in my kitchen. It was my fault and I feel so stupid to have caused such a devastating mess of the home I am trying so hard to keep.<o></o>
In the process of this fire I tried to play Firewomen and burned my hands to the bone on 2 of my fingers and I have never suffered pain like I have with these burns. I have had to drop out of this term in school and I don’t know if I will be able to return.<o></o>
Ok, so you say, “oh my word that poor girl what else could go wrong”? <o></o>

I fight depression so much every day. The worry of am I going to make it. Will I become a homeless cripple? What will happen to my children? When yet another mishap happened to me today. It was just another in a long line of heart break and sorrow. I have to say it made me laugh so hard it somehow gave me hope, strength to keep going forward.<o></o>

So here it is. Since my burns and back I have gained a few pounds. I am almost 5”10 and I weigh 174. I don’t look fat as I hide my weight well in my height. I went to the Dr’s this morning and was so pleased to find that I had lost 5 lbs.<o></o>
I returned home very pleased with myself. Truth be told I make sure my son eats since he is still at home and that means sometimes I eat less or not at all. I don’t care how I lost the 5 lbs. I was just so pleased that I did.<o></o>
So here comes my son and he totally shot my mood to hell when he says “Mom you need to go on a diet, you are getting fat”. Here I am starving so he can eat. I don’t let him know that, he’s been through enough. I am all jazzed that maybe there is hope to regain my normal 140 weight and just maybe look sexy again before I possibly end up cripple. <o></o>
So I excuse myself to go to the little girl’s room to tinkle and I sit down and I’m feeling all butt hurt and the only thing that could possibly make the situation worse happens. I hear this loud snapping sound and I feel this pinch in my butt. My son hears this loud snap and runs to my rescue thinking I fell or broke my back.<o></o>
I tell him I am ok and to turn around so I can finish wiping myself. I stand up and we both turn around. We both look at the toilet seat that is in about 7 pieces.<o></o>
I spend all my time trying to convince my no it all teen ager that he doesn’t have a clue about life as you learn from your life experiences. We both started laughing so hard that if I had not just tinkled I would have tinkled all over myself.<o></o>
He is now convinced he is a genius. He said I was fat and less than 2 minutes later I’m shattering our toilet seat. Truth is seat was old but there was no way he would ever believe that to be the cause. I am fat and nothing can change that in his mind.<o></o>
Point to all this sadness and worry is this.<o></o>
To spend a moment with your child and laugh
so hard you both cry even though it’s just another crappy moment in what seems to be nothing but crappy moments. This was the happiest moment I can remember. It for some reason renewed my courage, my determination, and my will to keep going forward.<o></o>
So I say to all of you at the streak to remember this. When you want to scream, cry, knock someone out, give up, and toss in the towel. Crab your child/children and laugh, laugh until you cry. It will make you remember what it’s all about and how much you do have to be thankful for. It might just save your life.<o></o>
