This topic is interesting without a doubt, I use Gimp 2.0. In the past I used Photoshop but running it on a computer while running other background programs and applications just made my work pace ever too slow to continue dealing with. Surely there are many more options out there to consider but ever since I switched over not only am I able to work in a more smooth pace but I've also come to realize that you can do almost anything you normally do on Photoshop and the Gimp is a free open source program. No need to spend tons of dollars and you can also get free plugins to enhance photo editing capabilities to your needs. If you do some Google searches you'll find tutorials for almost anything you want to learn to do on Gimp as well, cheers!
