Hi,

I don't know if very many people have ever heard of it.

I make ham gravy when we have ham, like yesterday.

It may sound wierd but, it is soooo good on mashed potatoes.

A little salty, a little sweet.

This only works if you put pineapple on your ham.

Take the drippings, as much as you can get anyway. We never get alot.

Bring to a boil on the stove.

add about 4 tablespoons of brown sugar

add any remaining juice from the pineapple can.

in a rather large cup, mix 1- 1 and 1/2 cups of water with 4 tablespoons of cornstarch until well blended.

Poor this into the ham juices and stir until it thickens.

It is soooo good.

I am not a big ham eater, but, I LOVE ham gravy!!!

There is also a Red Eye Gravy to serve with ham, lol

Here is one version:

BAKED HAM & RED EYE GRAVY

Read more about it at Cooks.com - Recipe - Baked Ham & Red Eye Gravy

1 Smithfield ham
1/2 c. mustard
1 1/2 c. molasses
1 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. sherry
6 c. strong coffee
1 more tbsp. vinegar
1 more tbsp. sherry

Remove ham from bag and scrub off pepper coating with brush and water. Soak ham for 3 days, then boil for 1/2 day, changing water once in a while. Cool. Skin it with your hands and a knife. Put in roasting pan with water and bake at 300 degrees for 3 hours. Whisk next 4 ingredients together and drizzle over ham and bake at 400 degrees for another 45 minutes. Put ham on cutting board to rest. Skim fat off of juice and add strong coffee. Simmer until thickened, then deglaze pan with the vinegar and sherry.
